Solair Pulse watches your Mac so you can see what it’s doing. Everything it measures stays on your Mac. The app has no account, no analytics and no tracking code.
What Pulse reads on your Mac
- Processes and resources: the running processes, which app each belongs to, and their CPU, memory, GPU, disk, network and energy use.
- Hardware: temperature sensors, fan speeds, battery health and charge, sound devices, and the battery level Bluetooth devices report.
- Development tools: the ports local servers listen on and the folders they run from, and containers from the local Docker engine (Docker Desktop, OrbStack or Colima).
- AI coding agents: from Claude Code’s and Codex’s logs on your Mac, token counts, model names, times, working folders, limit notices and where a conversation stands (a line’s kind and the name of a tool it calls), so Pulse can tell you when a session waits for you. Messages, prompts, code, tool inputs and their results are skipped without being decoded.
- Startup and background items: launchd’s property lists, the helpers inside your apps and your Open at Login list, read as data, and their state from
launchctl. Nothing in them is run, and no administrator rights are used. - Files, for Clean Up and the storage map: names, sizes and dates, and when Spotlight says an item was last opened. To prove a render bundle holds nothing of your project, Pulse compares the names and sizes of its files with your project’s. It doesn’t read what’s inside your files.
Where it’s kept
History, the alert log and Clean Up’s last scan are saved in ~/Library/Application Support/Solair Pulse; your settings are saved in Pulse’s preferences file. History is kept for 30, 90, 180 or 365 days, as you choose in Settings, and pruned after that. To remove everything, quit Pulse and delete that folder.
Network requests
Pulse makes no network requests on its own. These features make requests only after you turn them on or use them:
- Update checks. With Check automatically on (Settings › Updates), or when you press Check Now, Pulse downloads a small release file from this website over HTTPS, at most once a day when automatic, and the new version only when you choose Download and Verify. The request carries the app’s version and, like any web request, your IP address.
- Speed test. When you run it, Pulse measures latency, download and upload against Cloudflare’s speed test service, transferring at most about 55 MB. Nothing about your Mac or your apps is sent. Cloudflare sees your IP address.
- Public IP. If you turn on this menu bar item, Pulse asks Cloudflare for your public address every 30 minutes and when your network changes.
- Phone alerts. If you add an endpoint (your own URL, Home Assistant, Slack, ntfy or Pushover), Pulse sends alerts there. An alert can include app names and usage figures, and the service you chose handles it under its own privacy policy. Credentials stay in Pulse’s preferences on your Mac.
Once you buy Pulse, it checks your licence with Lemon Squeezy, the store’s payment provider: activating sends the licence key and your Mac’s name, and a check about once a week sends the key and the activation’s ID. Pulse keeps working offline for up to 30 days between checks.
Menu bar plugins you add are programs you chose: they run as you, and can do whatever any program you run can, including use the network. Pulse doesn’t send what they print anywhere.
The command line, the MCP server and the Prometheus exporter are off until you enable them. The MCP server talks to the program that started it over standard input and output; the exporter listens only on 127.0.0.1 and needs a token. Apps’ names are added to its figures only if you allow it separately.
Permissions
Pulse asks for nothing at launch. Each permission is requested when you first use the feature that needs it:
- Notifications for alerts.
- Full Disk Access, optional, so Clean Up can measure device backups and Mail’s attachments.
- System Audio Recording for per-app volume. Audio is processed in memory and never saved.
- Accessibility for the keyboard-cleaning mode, which blocks keys for a few minutes. Keystrokes aren’t recorded.
Buying Solair Pulse
Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record and processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address and order details so we can deliver your licence and help you with it. Your licence key is kept in your Mac’s Keychain.
